Syukur 1 Korintus 1:4-9 Dalam relasi dengan sesama, kita lebih mudah mengingat kelemahan daripada kebaikan. Tidak demikian dengan Rasul Paulus, persoalan jemaat di Korintus tidak membuatnya berhenti mengucap syukur. Ia mengingat umat Allah di Korintus serta menaikkan ucapan syukurnya atas mereka (4). Ada tiga hal yang menjadi dasar ucapan syukur Rasul Paulus. Pertama, jemaat di Korintus telah menerima dan mengalami kasih karunia Allah. Inilah sumber kekayaan mereka (7). Karunia ini akan digunakan sebagai sarana untuk memuliakan dan menyaksikan Allah. Kedua, mereka sudah menjadi saksi Kristus. Ketiga, Allah—yang melimpahkan kasih karunia dan rahmat kepada mereka—adalah setia. Rasul Paulus menguraikan kekayaan karunia yang ada pada gereja di Korintus. Sebagai jemaat, iman mereka sudah semakin teguh. Mereka juga memberikan kesaksian. Anugerah dan karunia ini hadir lewat perkataan dan pengetahuan (5).
